7-Day Raw Vegan Detox: Menu & Safety Notes
Quick Answer: What a 7-Day Raw Vegan Reset Is (and Isn’t)
A 7-day raw vegan detox is a short, plant-only eating plan built around fresh juices, smoothies and raw salads. It cuts out processed foods, animal products and heavy cooked meals for one week. It is not a medical treatment, and there is no solid evidence that it “cleanses” the body.
- Bloating & gas: Some people feel lighter after cutting processed and heavy foods. Others get more gas from the extra raw fiber.
- Constipation: More fiber and fluids can help some people. Results vary.
- Energy & focus: Energy can go either way in week one. This plan is low in protein and may be low in calories.
7-Day Raw Vegan Reset for Bloating and Low Energy: My Experience

Fresh cold-pressed ABC juice was part of my morning routine during the week.
Introduction: My Battle with Fatigue, Bloating and Gastritis
For years, I woke up feeling like my stomach was holding a lead weight. Almost every meal left me bloated, gassy and foggy, even when it seemed “healthy.” Like many people scrolling through subreddits such as r/Juicing and r/RawVegan, I tried a lot of things: elimination diets, digestive enzymes and probiotics. My constipation and afternoon slump didn’t improve.
Eventually I decided to try a structured 7-day raw vegan reset. It wasn’t a starvation fast. It was a week of raw fruits and vegetables, green juices and smoothies, and I used it to see how my digestion felt with simpler, lighter food. This post is my personal experience, not medical advice, and your results may be different.

A slow masticating juicer separates juice from dry pulp.
Fresh juice is an easy way to add fluids and vegetables, but it has far less fiber than whole produce.
Why I Tried Raw Foods for a Week
When I ate heavy, cooked and processed meals, I often felt sluggish afterwards. Raw plant foods are high in water and fiber, and they are naturally lighter, so a week of simple meals was an easy experiment for me.
Here is what raw plant foods provide:
- Fluids: Fruits, cucumber and leafy greens have a high water content.
- Fiber: Raw vegetables and fruit add fiber, which helps many people with regularity. Increase it gradually, because a sudden jump can cause gas and cramping.
- Vitamins and plant compounds: Fresh produce supplies vitamin C, folate, potassium and many phytonutrients.
Your liver and kidneys already handle waste removal. No food or juice has been shown to “detox” them any faster.
Does Your Juicer Matter? Centrifugal vs. Slow Masticating
During my first attempt, I used a high-speed blender and a cheap centrifugal juicer. The juice came out foamy, and I found it harder on my stomach, though that was my personal experience and not a proven difference.
Slow (masticating) juicers are quieter, leave drier pulp and usually give a higher yield, which many people prefer. I kept my juice recipes to two or three simple ingredients.
My 7-Day Raw Vegan Meal Schedule
This is the daily pattern I followed. It combines juices, a smoothie and raw meals:
| Time | Food | Why I included it |
|---|---|---|
| 7:00 AM | 16 oz fresh celery juice | A hydrating, light start to the morning. |
| 9:30 AM | Blueberry-cilantro smoothie (wild blueberries, cilantro, bananas, papaya) | Easy-to-digest carbohydrates for morning energy. |
| 1:00 PM | Raw salad bowl (arugula, cucumber, sprouted seeds, avocado dressing) | Fiber and healthy fats to keep me full. |
| 4:00 PM | 16 oz green juice (cucumber, kale, lemon, ginger) | Fluids and a lighter option for the afternoon slump. |
| 7:00 PM | Raw zucchini noodles with basil pesto, or a raw vegetable platter | A light dinner that sat comfortably before bed. |
Important: this menu is low in protein and may not provide enough calories for many people. If you feel hungry, weak or lightheaded, add more food or end the plan early. It is meant for one week only, not as a long-term diet.
Shopping list for this menu: celery, wild blueberries, cilantro, bananas, papaya, arugula, cucumber, sprouted seeds, avocado, kale, lemon, ginger, zucchini, basil, pesto ingredients, and vegetables for a platter.
Headaches and Low Energy: What You Might Notice and When to Stop
Around days 2 and 3, some people notice headaches, tiredness or a dip in energy. These can happen when your calories, caffeine or sugar intake change suddenly. I won’t claim they are a sign of toxins leaving your body, because that isn’t supported by evidence.
If you feel off:
- Drink water through the day and eat a little more food.
- Rest and keep exercise light.
- Don’t use laxatives or enemas to speed up results.
- Stop the plan and seek medical care if you have fainting, severe dizziness, a racing heartbeat, repeated vomiting or severe stomach pain.
After the 7 Days: Returning to Regular Meals
When the week ends, go back to normal meals gradually rather than all at once:
- Add cooked foods back slowly, such as soups, steamed vegetables, beans, lentils and whole grains if they suit you.
- Include protein sources at each meal.
- Keep the habits you liked, such as more vegetables, more water and fewer processed foods.
- Don’t stop or change any prescribed medication because of a diet plan.

Gentle movement, such as a walk, fits well during a lighter-eating week.
